Shah Alam, 26 July 2012 : The Selangor State Government will offer a 25 per cent reduction on assessment rates to owners of low-cost flats.
However, State Executive Councillor for Housing, Building Management And Squatters, Iskandar Abdul Samad said yesterday the reduction would only be offered to owners staying in their units, or their next-of-kin occupying the units if the owners are deceased.
Another condition is that the owners must not have any payment arrears.
"The owners need to fill a special form and present it while paying for the assessment rates to get the reduction," he told reporters after the exco meeting.
Iskandar said the forms are to ensure that the owners are residing in their flats, and should be endorsed by the Joint Management Committee, Management Corporation, Commissioner of Building at the local authority or local councillors.
He also said official documents to validate the individual or heir's ownership is required.
The tax reduction will be offered immediately upon the provision of the special form, he added. Meena Lakshana, Malay Mail.
