Chempaka assemblyman Iskandar Abdul Samad, who attended as an observer at the swearing-in ceremony, said councillors were starting to think too much like government officers.
'Councillors should not let any excuse get in the way of helping the people solve their problems,' he said citing the example of lack of budget or the law as excuses.
Iskandar, however, said this did not mean that councillors should not obey the laws and rules instead they should think out of the box in solving people's problem.
He agreed with council president who said the public these days had higher expectations of those who served them.
